The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little reward to find more ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one service is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
